Ponds are a self-sustaining ecosystem that can provide you and your family with a quiet oasis (with only a small amount of maintenance). In some states ponds can only be enjoyed during the spring and summer months; however, Kansas has the right temperatures so that you can enjoy your pond all year long! Construction of a pond usually only takes a few days, so you don’t have to wait around for it to be completed.

Another fabulous reason for Kansas natives to build a backyard pond: the Kansas Pond Society! This society provides education in the care and building of water gardens and ponds. In addition, it promotes a community of people with similar interests and gives its members access to local suppliers. If you really knock your backyard pond out of the park with the aesthetic design, you may even end up on the Kansas Pond Society Water Garden Tour! This tour invites the general public to learn about the pond hobby and educate them on what they are and the wide variety of sizes, shapes, themes, and more.

Ready to start working toward a tour-worthy pond? The stores below are great places to start. With many of the supply stores also offering consultations, maintenance, and even installations, you are sure to find everything you need right here in your home state!
