The climate in Arkansas makes pond maintenance quite a challenge, but it’s not impossible! laredawg / No copyright

Did you know that Arkansas is one of the most ecologically diverse states in the country? In fact, Arkansas is split among three separate Level II ecoregions: the Southeastern Plains, Ozark, Ouachita, Appalachian Forests, Mississippi Alluvial, and Southeast USA Coastal Plains. With that being said, you might expect them to have a thriving pond and pond owner community; however, the climate in Arkansas, unfortunately, makes aquatic maintenance a very challenging feat.

If you want to challenge yourself, then a backyard pond might just be up your alley. If you are looking to build a pond, or just need to know where to go for upkeep supplies, the list below can help you out. There are only a handful of pond supply stores in Arkansas, but the ones that do exist provide anything and everything a pond owner (or future pond owner) could need.

1) Green Thumb Water Garden Center

Green Thumb Water Garden Center offers a wide variety of all types of aquaculture supplies. They are a member of and are in affiliation with Atlantic Water Gardens retailers and contractors which allows them to deliver the best designs, installations, and maintenance services. The store is unique in that they have a working demonstration in-store of most of their products so that customers are able to see them in action before purchasing.

The company services the Little Rock, Northpoint, and Pulaski County areas. They sell filtration supplies, plants, fish supplies, lighting products, pumps, and piping. They carry everything a pond owner needs to take good care of their pond no matter the season.

2) Outdoor Water Solutions

Outdoor Water Solutions (OWS) was founded in March of 2005 and offers high-quality pond products at reasonable prices. OWS extensively tests all of its products at its manufacturing facility. They test their fountains, aerators, and even pond dyes. The company has a simple and easy-to-use pond maintenance system that was developed with a team of water quality experts and seasoned biologists – so you know it’s good!

They offer all-natural bacteria products and natural dyes and colorants. Their colorants are available in both dry and highly-concentrated liquid formulas. They supply pond owners with all the necessary tools and products available.

3) River Valley Horticulture Products, Inc.

River Valley is located on a 30-acre nursery and is owned by Scott Smith, who is an Arkansas Certified Nurseryman. He has an extensive background in horticulture and the store has been in business for over 20 years. The nursery has paved pathways that allow customers an easy way to find what they need. Along with a massive selection of aquatic plants, they sell de-icers, liners, filters, and pumps for pond owners.

4) Northside Aquatics

While Northside Aquatics is Arkansas’ largest aquarium store, they are a big supplier of pond products as well. They started in 2003 and offer the largest supply of livestock and aquarium equipment in Arkansas! They sell pond supplements, koi, and other pond equipment.

5) Southern Aquaculture Supply

Southern Aquaculture is a leading aquaculture, fish farming, pond, and lake supplier. They supply chemicals and equipment and they offer service on their products to their customers. They’ve been a family-owned & -operated business since 1994 and have a wide range of pond supplies to get you started and to make sure you succeed!
